According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, India has imported fibre from Vietnam worth $36.387 million during the first five months of 2023, which was 5.34 per cent of total imports of $681.051 million. Vietnam was the eighth largest source for importing fibres. India imports polyester fibre in significant quantity, while India was the largest market for Vietnam’s fibre exports in the same period. Its fibre exports to India were 32.20 per cent of the total shipment of $113.016 million. It shows that Vietnam can expand its market in India to tap a larger market.
India’s yarn imports from Vietnam were valued at $32.932 million in January-May 2023. It was 4.05 per cent of total imports of $814.055 million. Vietnam was the fourth largest yarn supplier for India, while Vietnam’s yarn export was 2.36 per cent of its total shipment of $1,398.177 million. India was the sixth largest market for Vietnam.
India’s fabric imports from Vietnam were recorded at $27.375 million in the period under review, which was 4.31 per cent of total imports of $635.501 million. Vietnam was the third largest source of Indian fabric imports. Vietnam’s fabric exports to India were 6.07 per cent in the total exports of $446.458 million in January-May 2023. India was the fifth largest market for the shipment, as per TexPro.
