The country’s merchandise exports between April 2021 and February 2022 were worth $374.05 billion, an increase of 45.80 per cent over $256.55 billion in April 2020-February 2021 and a rise of 28.16 per cent over $291.87 billion in April 2019-February 2020, according to an official release.
Merchandise imports in that 11-month period were worth $550.12 billion, an increase of 59.21 per cent over $345.54 billion in April 2020-February 2021 and a rise of 24.11 per cent over $443.24 billion in April 2019-February 2020.
The trade deficit in February this year was $21.19 billion, while it was $176.07 billion during April 2021-February 2022.
Value of non-petroleum exports in February was 29.70 $billion, registering a growth of 18.04 per cent over similar exports worth $25.16 billion in February 2021 and a growth of 22.23 per cent over similar exports worth $24.30 billion in February 2020.
Value of such imports was $39.96 billion in February, with a growth of 26 per cent over such imports worth $31.72 billion in February 2021 and a positive growth of 47.33 per cent over such imports worth $27.12 billion in February 2020.
