Category-wise, clothing exports dropped 4.34 per cent to $15.4 billion during April 2019 to March 2020, compared to exports of $16.1 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal. In March alone, exports plummeted 35 per cent year-on-year, the data showed.
Textile (excluding clothing) exports dipped around 7 per cent to $18.4 billion in 2019-20, as against exports of $19.8 billion during 2018-19.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and lockdowns, April exports are likely to be worse than March.
