Italy's exports to non-EU27 countries rises by 8.8% YoY in Aug

Italy’s exports to non-European Union (EU) 27 countries in August this year increased by 8.8 per cent year on year (YoY) and imports from such nations dropped by 32.7 per cent YoY, according to preliminary data released by the government statistics agency Istat.

In seasonally-adjusted terms, exports in August rose by 7.1 per cent month on month (MoM) and imports by 3.8 per cent MoM.

Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted data compared with the previous three months showed a 1.3 per cent increase in outgoing flows and a 5.7 per cent decrease in incoming flows.

Italy’s trade balance with non-EU27 countries in August registered a surplus of €3,061 million compared to a deficit of €7,762 million in August last year. Excluding energy, the surplus was equal to €8,156 million—up compared with a €4,075-million surplus in August last year, Istat said in a note.

The complete results of the survey on total foreign trade in August this year will be disseminated on October 18.
