Italy's seasonally-adjusted exports down 3.2% MoM, 0.2% YoY in Jan

The country’s exports decreased by 2.4 per cent MoM to European (EU) countries and by 4 per cent MoM to non-EU countries in the month.

Imports dropped by 6.3 per cent MoM from EU countries and by 8.6 per cent MoM from non-EU countries.

January exports decreased by 0.2 per cent year on year (YoY) and imports in the month dropped by 13.5 per cent YoY. Exports were stationary for EU countries and decreased by 0.4 per cent to non-EU countries. Imports decreased by 8.7 per cent from the EU area and dropped by 19.3 per cent from non-EU area.

Trade balance registered a surplus of €2,655 million (~$2.89 billion) in January—a €376-million (~$409.42 million) deficit for EU countries and €3,031 million (~$3.3 billion) surplus for non-EU countries. Excluding energy, trade balance surplus was equal to €6,888 million (~$7.5 billion).

Import prices decreased by 0.9 per cent MoM in January—0.5 per cent for the euro zone and 1.3 per cent for the non-euro zone. Such prices decreased by 7 per cent YoY during the month—3.2 per cent for the euro zone and 10.2 per cent for the non-euro zone.
