The country’s exports to European Union (EU) countries rose by 1.4 per cent MoM and those to non-EU countries by 6.5 per cent MoM. Imports from EU nations increased by 2.4 per cent MoM and those from non-EU nations rose by 3.2 per cent MoM.
Over the last three months, seasonally-adjusted exports rose by 2.4 per cent quarter on quarter (QoQ) and imports rose slightly by 0.5 per cent QoQ.
Trade balance registered a surplus of €4,699 million (€684 million deficit for EU countries and €5,383 million surplus for non-EU countries) in October, official statistics agency Istat said in a release.
Import prices increased by 1.1 per cent MoM in October (0.1 per cent for the euro zone and 1.8 per cent for non-euro countries). Over the last three months, import prices increased by 0.1 per cent QoQ (minus 0.8 per cent for the euro zone and 0.9 per cent for non-euro countries).
Import prices decreased by 10.2 per cent YoY in the month (minus 2.9 per cent for the euro zone and minus 16.1 per cent for non-euro nations).
