Tunisian textiles & clothing exports rise

Continuing its growth trend since February this year, Tunisian textiles and clothing sector has recorded exports of 526 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) in June 2011, up 14.07 percent, as per data released by the Textile Technical Centre (CETTEX).

During the first six months of 2011, the country mainly exported to the European countries of France, Italy and Germany. Tunisia's textiles and clothing sector exports to France rose to 940 MTD, as against 875 MTD in the corresponding period in 2010, registering a growth of 7.4 percent.

Similarly, its exports to Italy during the January-June period was worth 846 MTD compared to 798 MTD achieved during the same period last year, a rise of six percent. However, the highest growth was seen in exports to Germany, which grew by a substantial 30 percent from 239 MTD to 373 MTD.
