India's imports of Chinese gray silk fabrics decline substantially

India imported 16.71 million metres of gray silk fabrics from China during the first seven months of 2011, registering a substantial decline of 49.3 percent year-on-year.

The imports of Chinese gray silk fabrics in January-July period were worth US$ 73.19 million, a decrease of 27.26 percent year-on-year. Average unit price, however, increased to US$ 4.38 per metre, up 43.49 percent year-on-year.

India's imports during the period accounted for 17 percent of China's total gray silk fabric exports in volume and 16.78 percent in value.
