Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) based in Tirupur is promoting apparel exports from this region.

The Council has appealed to Prakash Karat, General Secretary CPI (M) and sought support for incentives to the textile industry.

As Indian textile industry is flourishing in the quota-free environment, this is the right time for helping the industry with incentives, views AEPC.

Moreover, India should also take advantage of quotas imposed on China by developed countries, added A Sakthivel, Chairman, AEPC.

Sakthivel also requested Karat to ensure that workers get employment for at least 200 days a year and they are allowed to work for 60 hours per week.

The Council also pleaded that without two-third majority of workers, strike should not be validated.

AEPC also wanted a dialogue between government and trade unions on this matter, informed a release.
