China's exports of textiles and apparels showed a downward trend during the first two months of the current calendar year.
The exports of textiles from China decreased by 2.6 percent year-on-year to US$ 11.94 billion during January-February 2012, according to the latest report on China's foreign trade situation released by the General Administration of Customs.
China's exports of apparels, too, dipped by 2.5 percent y-o-y to US$ 19.29 billion during the initial two months of the current year.
However, China's total exports increased by 6.9 percent y-o-y to US$ 264.39 billion. The country's imports also rose by 7.7 percent y-o-y to US$ 268.64 billion. Thus, there was a total trade deficit of US$ 4.25 billion.
During the two months period, China's bilateral trade grew a maximum of 31.9 percent y-o-y with Russia, which increased to US$ 13.51 billion.
China-Brazil trade was worth US$ 11.54 billion, registering a rise of 10.6 percent y-o-y during the period.
Bilateral trade value of China-US and China-ASEAN amounted to US$ 66.05 billion and US$ 51.84 billion, recording an increase of 9.2 percent y-o-y and 9.1 percent y-o-y, respectively.
In the same period, China-EU bilateral trade registered US$ 79.8 billion, showing an increase of 4.7 percent year-on-year, while Sino-Japanese bilateral trade was worth US$ 49.07 billion, up 0.5 percent y-o-y.
