US ceiling on Chinese textile imports revives hopes of Vietnamese exporters

le quoc an, chairman of vietnam textile and garment association informed that the committee for the implementation of textile agreements (cita)has once again imposed quota on chinese textile products, as surge in shipments from china since jan. 1 was disrupting the domestic market.

the quota is applied on three categories of textile and apparel imported from china called: cat. 338/339 ( knitted shirt), cat.347/348 ( cotton trousers), and cat.352/652 (cotton & synthetic fibre intimates) effective from june 1, 2005. chairman le quoc an of the vietnam textile and garment association

the committee for the implementation of textile agreements give explanations on its action that surge of chinese textile and garment products could results disorder and disruption in the us market.

“this is also a chance for vietnamese exporters as these are hot categories. however, to grasp the chance, competent agencies need to closely supervise enterprises so as to prevent illegal shipment of goods,” opines le quoc an.
