Textiles exports from Turkey's Bursa province rise

The exports of textiles from Bursa, the north-western province of Turkey, showed a growing trend, while the exports of garments dropped during the initial six months of the current year.
 
Textiles exports grew by 9.98 percent from first half of 2011’s US$ 574.3 million to US$ 631.6 million during January-June 2012, the Uludag Exporters’ Association (UIB) data shows.
 
Apparel exports, however, dipped by 6.29 percent to US$ 253.3 million during the first half of 2012 from US$ 270.3 million worth of exports achieved in the corresponding period of 2011.
 
Total textiles and clothing exports from Bursa during the first half of 2012 increased to US$ 884.9 million, as against exports of US$ 844.6 million made during the same period last year.
 
Textiles from the province were exported to 116 countries and autonomous regions and nine free zones, while readymade clothing exports were destined to 112 countries and autonomous regions and seven free zones. 
 
In June 2012, textiles exports from Bursa rose by 10.47 percent year-on-year to US$ 107.8 million, while garment exports plunged by 1.37 percent y-o-y to US$ 47.6 million.
