US textile & apparel imports from China up in Jan-May

US imported textiles and apparels worth US$ 42.39 billion from January to May 2012, showing an increase of 2.4 percent year-on-year, according to the World Trade Analyzer.
 
US textile and garment imports from China accounted for US$ 15.04 billion during the period, representing an increase of 4.9 percent year-on-year.
 
Chinese textile and clothing items accounted for 35.52 percent of all US textile and garment imports during the five-month period, up one percent year-on-year.
 
The growth in import of textiles and apparels from Vietnam, however, was slightly higher than the growth in imports from China, among the top ten countries from which the US imported its textiles and garments.
