Major decisions remaining inconclusive at WTO ministerial meeting at Hong Kong, has made those task more difficult to solve at Doha round next year, observes International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

ICC is of the view that this objective remains achievable as the issue is more political than technical.

The difficult decisions of opening up of markets, were mostly deferred to a later date and less important measures were adopted as per agreement reached at WTO Ministerial Conference held in Hong Kong.

Governments will require political will to make adjustments to take into account common interest of success.

Guy Sebban, Secretary General of ICC said, Doha Round next year has to be successful so that business is able to contribute fully towards raising global living standards.

World trade needs more players to liberalize trade instead of bilateral business deals which are discriminatory.

WTO governments should get together and work with determination to fulfill commitments slated for 2006 as decided at Hong Kong meeting, said ICC.
