From January to May this year, Japan imported textiles and apparel worth US$ 16.9 billion, rising at a year-on-year rate of 7 percent, according to official statistics of Japan. Of which, imports from China accounted for 73 percent or US$ 12.26 billion, an increase of 4.14 percent year-on-year.

Japan’s textile and clothing imports from China grew at a slower pace compared to its imports from Bangladesh, Malaysia and Vietnam during the five-month period.
