Sharp rise in China's Oct textile & apparel exports

A sharp rise has been observed in China’s textile and apparel exports in October 2012, the data from customs statistics shows.
 
Last month, China’s textile and apparel exports registered US$ 22.75 billion, showing an increase of 15.8 percent year-on-year.
 
Sub-sector wise, China exported textiles worth US$ 8.05 billion, which is a rise of 8.1 percent year-on-year, while garment exports earned US$ 14.7 billion, registering a growth of 20.5 percent year-on-year.
 
However, on a month-on-month basis, China’s total textile and clothing exports in October dipped by 9.5 percent, of which, the exports of textiles dropped by 5.7 percent and that of garments by 11.3 percent.
 
From January to October this year, China’s textile and garment exports totaled US$ 209.86 billion, up 2 percent year-on-year. Sub-sector wise, textile exports fetched US$ 79.1 billion, up 1 percent year-on-year, while the remaining US$ 130.76 billion was contributed by the apparel segment, showing a rise of 2.6 percent year-on-year.
