After witnessing almost flat growth during the initial three quarters of 2012, Chinese textile and apparel exports posted significant growth in October.

Last month, China exported textiles and clothing items worth US$ 22.75 billion, showing a year-on-year growth of 15.8 percent, according to the statistics released by General Administration of Customs.

The huge growth has resulted in China’s total textile and apparel exports from January to October to surge to US$ 209.86 billion, up two percent year-on-year.

From January until September this year, China recorded poor textile and clothing export situation with total exports registering almost flat increase of 0.53 percent year-on-year at US$ 187.1 billion.

Weak demand from overseas markets, significant transfer of orders to other countries and protective measures implemented by some countries were some of the reasons for Chinese textile and garment exports not picking up during the first nine months of 2012.
