Falling unit prices pull down Chinese silk exports

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s exports of silk merchandise registered US $2.5 billion in January to September, a year-on-year decline of 6.21 percent.
 
Exports of silk products completed 12,770.7 tons, down 0.29 percent year on year, export value scored US $490 million, and a year-on-year decline of 8.4 percent, unit price fell 8.14 percent year on year.
 
China’s exports to all main markets declined, except exports to Pakistan and Hong Kong which increased 23.82 percent and 5.6 percent year-on-year, respectively. 
 
Exports to four traditional markets, the United States, India, Italy, Japan, fell 10.98 percent, 8.75 percent, 20.88 percent and 7.46 percent year on year, respectively.
