The Internal Market Protection Division under Eurasian Economic Commission of the Customs Union formed by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, has launched anti-dumping investigation on the synthetic fabric imported into the territory of the unified customs tariff league of the three countries since October 1, 2012.

The investigation is the first such measure in textile trade since Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in August 2012.

China’s Ministry of Commerce and China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textile and Apparel (CCCT) have been registered as the parties involved in the case.

Both the Ministry and the CCCT are attaching great importance to the case and in addition to their defenses, the two parties would strive to negotiate and find a reasonable solution to the investigation, according to the CCCT.

The CCCT said it will be actively involved in responding to the case, in order to safeguard the interests of China’s textile and apparel exporters, and to create a favourable trade environment for them.

From January to August 2012, China’s overall exports of items involved in the investigation increased by 1.9 percent year-on-year, according to Chinese customs statistics.

In 2011, China’s total exports of the same products were worth approximately US$ 560 million, up 44.28 percent year-on-year.
