China exported textiles and apparels worth US$ 38.92 billion to the US in 2012, showing a growth of 3.3 percent year-on-year, which was higher than the growth rate of 2.8 percent year-on-year achieved by overall Chinese textile and apparel exports during the year.

China’s textile exports to the US increased by 4.3 percent year-on-year in 2012, while clothing exports rose by 3 percent year-on-year.

Among textiles, textile made-ups achieved the fastest growth of 4.9 percent year-on-year, followed by fabric exports which grew at 2.7 percent year-on-year.

China exported 5.64 billion sets of knitted and woven apparels to the US during the year, up 5.4 percent year-on-year in quantity, but down 2.7 percent y-o-y in terms of unit price.

Experts attribute the increase in demand for Chinese apparels to the economic recovery in the US.
