Textile, clothing & other exports to Egypt grow over 200%

Overall exports from Israel, excluding that of diamonds, registered a 29 percent increase in 2005, to reach US $232.6 million.
Egypt and Jordan served as top export destinations where majority of the trade was in context of qualified industrial zones (QIZs) for the combined production of duty-free goods exported to the US.
Apart from direct exports to Arab countries, goods worth $12 million were exported indirectly by joint projects of Arab and Israeli companies in third countries.
Israeli exports to Egypt recorded by 214 percent increase over 2004 to reach $93 million in 2005.
Most exports consisted of textiles and clothing, and chemicals and refined oil products.
Israeli exports to Morocco rose 18 percent to reach $11.2 million, while exports to Iraq, mostly for the US military forces in the country, went up 24 percent to reach $5.7 million in 2005.
However, Exports to Jordan totaled up to $115.2 million in 2005, a drop of 13 percent from 2004.
Most exports consisted of textiles and clothing, leather, wood and furniture, paper and printing, and machinery and equipment for Israeli factories in Jordanian QIZs.
