Iran's textile exports grow 24% in Mar-Feb 2012-13

Textile exports from Iran have grown by 24 percent year-on-year to US$ 644 million during the initial eleven months of the last Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2012-February 18, 2013), Zawya said quoting an IRNA report.
 
Accordingly, the total value of Iran’s textile export, including hand-woven carpets, increased to US$ 1.08 billion during the 11-month period.
 
In terms of value, the exports of yarn and blankets surged by 106 percent year-on-year and 49 percent year-on-year, respectively.
 
Various flooring materials, garments and yarn were the major textile products exported during the period.
 
There are around 9,660 units involved in the production of textiles and garments across Iran, constituting about 11 percent of the total industrial enterprises in the country.
 
The textile and garment industry in Iran employs about 300,000 people, i.e. about 13 percent of total industrial employment in Iran.
