Cotton yarn trade of Spain continued its slide in January 2006 in the face of post-WTO 2005 scenario.
January saw a decline of 4.7 percent in cotton yarn export to 3,405 tons.
Spain had registered a decline of 3.9 percent in exports in 2005.
Cotton yarn imports for January also fell to 7.5 percent with imports of 3,570 tons.
Imports of cotton yarn in 2005 showed a decline of 17.0 percent.
on the import front, sharp increase in imports from India continued.
India replaced Italy as foremost supplier of cotton yarn to Spain for the first time in 2005.
Portugal and Germany emerged as the main cotton yarn export destination for Spain in January.
