Federal Govt withdraws ban on textile materials imports

Federal Government has decided to reconsider its decision of banning imports of textile materials after realizing that some of banned materials like chinos fabrics, linen and quad are essential raw materials for local textile industries.
Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC), Deputy Director, Ego Nwokocha informed sources that the ban was imposed on some textile materials imports so as to help local players but later, they relaised that the banned products were serving as essential raw materials to them.
Manufacturers in Aba have complained to NSC and sought help to solve the problem.
According to Ego Nwokocha, Federal Government has agreed to lift the ban on textile materials because it will assist domestic industries to progress and create job opportunities.
