Spanish textile exports rise 13.9% in Jan-July'13

The exports of textiles from Spain surged 13.9 percent year-on-year to €6.735 billion in the first eight months of the current year, according to the data released by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.
 
Of these, the exports of apparel registered €4.685 billion, showing a year-on-year rise of 19 percent, according to the data.
 
During the same period, Spain imported textiles worth €8.196 billion, rising at 4.3 percent year-on-year. The apparel sub-sector recorded imports valued at €6.112 billion, up 4.4 percent year-on-year.
 
Thus, total Spanish textile trade balance was negative €1.461 billion during the eight-month period.
 
In July 2013, Spain exported overall textiles worth €911 million, while it imported €1.322 billion of textiles.
 
Spanish exports and imports in the apparel sub-sector in July 2013 were valued at €620.2 million and €1.009 billion, respectively.
 
In 2012, Spanish textile and clothing exports grew at 9.1 percent year-on-year to €10.733 billion, with the apparel sector exports rising at 13.4 percent year-on-year to €7.473 billion.
