Turkey's textile exports grow 7.1% in Jan-August'13

The exports of textiles, excluding apparel, from Turkey grew by 7.1 percent year-on-year to US$ 5.458 billion during the first eight months of the current year, according to the figures released by the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters' Association (ITKIB).
 
The textile exports accounted for around 5.5 percent of Turkey’s total exports during the eight-month period, haberler.com reported quoting AA news agency.
 
Turkey’s textile exports to Russia were valued at US$ 714.58 million, followed by Italy with US$ 541.334 million, and Germany with US$ 280.232 million.
 
Around 45 percent of Turkish textile exports during the eight-month period were destined to the EU countries.
 
From January to August 2013, Turkey exported US$ 1.853 billion worth of woven fabric, US$ 1.115 billion worth of yarn, US$ 1.109 billion of knitted fabric and US$ 420.691 million of fibre.
 
Most of the textile exports were made from the province of Istanbul, which accounted for US$ 2.582 billion, followed by the province of Bursa with exports valued at US$ 746.673 million.
 
In 2012, Turkish textile exports rose to US$ 7.75 billion from US$ 7.7 billion in 2011, according to statistics of the Ministry of Economy.
