Assocamerestero reports sizeable rise in exports to EU

Gaetano Gausto Espostio, Director General, Assocamerestero, conveyed that exports to the EU were improving this year.

Studies indicate over 12.2 percent rise in the exports to the EU and Italy accounts for almost 59 percent of the total exports.

Exports to Germany rose 13 percent while those to Spain, France and the UK grew 11.4, 9.1 and 3.5 percent respectively, where the Italian products make up for over 39 percent of the total exports.

Textile and garment exports to the European markets recorded over 10.2 percent increase while the complete international sales registered a growth of almost seven percent.

Balance of typical Italian products grew from 4019 million euro in 2005 to 4125 million euro in 2006, an increase of 2.6 percent.
