Brazil's cotton yarn exports registered a decline of 29.2 percent with export volume of 4111 tons for January through March 2006 period, compared to previous year.
Export downturn of Brazil began in 2004 with a fall of 40 percent in cotton yarn exports, with a further fall of 9.7 percent registered in 2005.
Argentina continues to be top export market for Brazil's cotton yarn.
First quarter exports to Argentina declined 16.0 percent with export volume of 2,329.4 tons.
The US has been second largest market for Brazil's cotton yarn export.
First quarter cotton yarn export to the US in 2006 went down by 48.1 percent with an export volume of 645.4 tons which follows a 57.4 percent decline in volume in 2005.
Cotton yarn exports to Chile fell 39.2 percent and Peru registered a fall of 64.5 percent.
