Textile, garment and footwear were the top export products by the end of this year's first quarter.

Textile and garment exports together represented almost 38 percent growth reaching over US $1.75 billion, about 50 percent of which were supplied to the US.

Footwear exports registered about 20 percent rise bringing in nearly $1.1 billion.

As the footwear exports to the EU have to face anti-dumping duties, several leather shoe manufacturers have shifted to other accessories that are not subject to these duties.

Ho Chi Minh city (HMC) in the last four months posted $4.29 billion in export revenue, up 12.7 percent from the same period last year.

Garment industry, reaching $286 million, went up 11.4 percent over the same period last year while the domestic footwear industry hit $77.1 million in export revenue, rising by 8.8 percent.
