Indonesia and Russia are determined to strengthen their trade relations and expect to raise it from over US $550.9 million to around $1 billion.
Indonesian exports to Russia were pegged at around $348.1 million representing a 57.9 percent year-on-year growth, in 2005 that included textile, footwear and machinery products.
Indonesia's imports from Russia also increased about 70.2 percent during 2001-2005 period and comprised of chemical and fertilizer products.
While Russia expects to expand the exports of heavy equipment and so on, Indonesia will export more of agricultural and forestry products along with several manufactured products.
To facilitate trade further, the two sides have agreed to set up trading houses in both the countries. Meanwhile,Russia is currently pursuing negotiations with a number of countries like the US, as part of its efforts to become a member of the WTO.
