China's textile & apparel exports set new record in Aug'14

The exports of textiles and apparel from China continued to show upward trend and set a new record of highest value in a single month in August 2014.
 
In August, China’s textile and apparel exports registered US$ 30.53 billion, breaking the $30 billion-mark for the second consecutive month, according to the data released by the General Administration of Customs.
 
Category-wise, the exports of textiles, including yarn, fabric and related products, fetched US$ 9.96 billion, showing a year-on-year growth of 6.1 percent, while exports of apparel and clothing accessories earned $20.57 billion, achieving a growth of 10.3 percent.
 
From January to August, 2014, China’s textile and apparel exports totaled $193.36 billion, growing at 5.7 percent year-on-year. Of this, the textile category accounted for $73.36 billion, up 4.7 percent, whereas clothing exports rose at 6.4 percent to $120 billion.
 
During the last cotton season from September 2013 to August 2014, China’s cumulative textile and apparel exports stood at $294.51 billion. Of this, textile exports were valued at $110.23 billion and garment exports at $184.28 billion. (RKS)
