Vietnam's export turnover of leather capped shoes to Japan during first two months of 2006 reached yen1.61 billion at 7.71 percent of Japanese market share against 1.5 percent in 2000.
Vietnam registered an increase of 27.79 percent compared to same period for 2005.
Vietnam's export price of leather capped shoes to Japan were $15.47 per pair on an average, which is a dollar higher than Indonesia, but is lower than other countries.
Average export price to Japan by China is $17.55 per pair, by Spain it is $45.15, by Germany it is $43.69 and $78.69 by Italy.
Japanese General Customs reported that import turnover of leather capped shoes from Vietnam achieved a year-on-year increase of 20.66 percent in 2005, worth Yen 7.03 billion (around $55 million), recording an increase of 5.73 percent compared to 2000.
Vietnam has been able to post surge in growth due to General Special Priority (GSP) awarded by Japan to developing countries whereas leather capped shoes from EU is limited, opine experts.
