The growth rate of China’s textile and apparel exports slowed down in the first quarter of 2015.

China’s textile and garment exports were affected by the Spring Festival in January, and showed a sharp rebound in February. Although no longer affected by seasonal factors, March exports declined sharply notching $12.57 billion, down 32.6 per cent year-on-year. Of this, textile exports dropped 29 per cent to $5.88 billion, whereas garment exports declined 35.4 per cent to $6.69 billion.

Industry analysts, however, foresee an improvement in China’s textile and clothing exports in the second half of 2015. (RKS)
