India's apparel exports up 9.24% in April '15

Exports of readymade garments from India increased by 9.24 per cent to $1.444 billion in April 2015, compared to exports valued at $1.322 billion in the corresponding month of last year, according to the estimates released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
 
The exports of cotton textiles, including yarn, fabric, made-ups and handloom products, rose 4.14 per cent year-on-year to $841.63 million in April 2015, the data showed.
 
On the other hand, the exports of man-made textiles, including yarn, fabric and made-ups declined by 8.73 per cent year-on-year during the month to $395.34 million.
 
The exports of carpet shot up by 14.17 per cent to $116.19 million, according to the ministry data.
 
Meanwhile, the import of cotton (raw and waste) dropped by 20.06 per cent during the month under review to $23.99 million. However, the import of textile yarn, fabric and made-up articles increased slightly by 2.19 per cent to $120.16 million. (RKS)
