Continuing with the downtrend witnessed over the past few months, the value of textile and apparel exports from China declined by 10.2 per cent year over year in July 2015, even more than June 2015 fall of 8.79 per cent year-on-year.

According to the data released by the General Administration of Customs, Chinese textile and apparel exports fetched $27.25 billion in July 2015. Of this, exports of textiles (including yarn, fabric and related products) were valued at $9.51 billion, down 5.9 per cent year-on-year, while exports of apparel and clothing accessories declined by 12.4 per cent to $17.74 billion.

During the first seven months of 2015, the value of China's total textile and garment exports stood at $155.62 billion, registering a drop of 4.4 per cent year-on-year. Category-wise, textile exports earned $62.42 billion, down 1.5 per cent, whereas garment exports fell 6.2 per cent to $93.2 billion.

China's textile and apparel exports showed double-digit decline in July, due to high base of last year and lack of significant improvement in external environment. Even the new export orders index fell in July, which means China's textile and garment export situation is still not optimistic, according to analysts. (RKS)
