Vietnam exported 14.59 million pairs of sports shoes in the month of April 2006, raking in revenue worth $147.58 million, indicate preliminary statistics of Ministry of Trade.
Exports turnover of shoes in first four months of 2006 reached 52.88 million pairs, worth $535 million, recording 20 percent rise in terms of volume and 45 percent rise in value, compared to same period, last year.
Sports shoes of knitted material and leather capped ones achieved the highest growth rate at 70 percent.
Exports revenue of these shoes earned $387.42 million posting a rise of 18.55 percent from sales of 38.29 million pairs, a 40.77 percent hike during first quarter this year compared to Jan-March period of 2005.
Average price per pair in three-month period grew by 18.73 percent at $10.12 per pair.
Experts hint that revenue growth will rise in the coming times as goods are outside the purview of European Union's anti-dumping tariff.
