A provisional anti-dumping tax on towels imported from China will be imposed by the Taiwan's Ministry of Finance (MOF), informed sources.
Director General of Custom Administration Department, Chien Liang-chi, informed that from June 1, 237.7 percent anti-dumping tax will be imposed on towels imported from China.
However, two Chinese companies have been given some benefit in the form of lower tax at 109.3 percent and 107.7 percent respectively.
Lower tax is admissible on the grounds that they were the only respondents when the MOF called opinions of top nine Chinese towel manufacturers who export to Taiwan.
Those nine companies, targeted by MOF account for 35 percent of all Chinese exported towels by the country.
Provisional anti-dumping tax will not exceed four months period. Chien Liang-chi stated that there are possibilities that his officials may visit China for inspection and could impose further anti-dumping tax.
