Exports to EU likely to reach $6.1bn

Ministry of Trade is hopeful to get around US $6.1 billion through exports to the EU.

Various sectors such as garments, footwear, woodworks, handicrafts, seafood and foodstuff are taking measures to promote exports, according to Ministry of Trade Information Centre.

Country earns most of its foreign revenue from exports of garment & textile and footwear, mainly to the EU markets.

Footwear sector is the major foreign exchange earner accounting $2 billion while textile and garment sector account for $840 million, informed trade centre.

This year imports of around $3.15 billion are expected by the trade centre compared to last year figure of $2.7 billion.
