Entry of Vietnam in World Trade Organization will see many schemes and various kinds of subsidies making their exit from the radar as the WTO guidelines prohibit export subsidies and other government sops to industries.
One of the biggest casualties for textile and apparel sector would be the removal of subsidies under WTO guidelines.
Another scheme which faces extinction is the award used to be given for the last eight years to high achievers in export and the Ministry has already moved a proposal to this effect.
Once Vietnam joins WTO, it will be forced to remove agriculture subsidies immediately.
