Chile & Bangladesh agree to form bilateral treaty

Bangladesh Commerce Minister Hafizuddin Ahmed and Carlos Eduardo Mena, Vice Minister and Executive Vice President of Foreign Investment of Chile have reached consensus to form bilateral economic relationships to enhance trade and investment.

Bangladesh has trade deficit with Chile and through bilateral treaty, country's exports will get boost mainly in RMG, leather and leather products, and pharmaceuticals, Hafizuddin stated.

Bangladesh' total exports to Chile were $2.79 million while imports were $11.72 million having trade deficit of $8.93 million.

On the other hand, Carlos Eduardo Mena urged Bangladesh minister to provide exchange of business delegations between the two countries to promote bilateral trade and investment.

Carlos said that this treaty would bring win-win situation for both the countries.
