Garment imports surge 34%

Country has imported 54 million items of clothing worth of $80 million from China.

Garment imports from china increased 34 percent compared to last year, informed Israel Manufacturers' Association.

Textile imports were also reported 32.7 percent gain in first three months of 2006 compared same period last year worth of $117.6 million.

Association informed that due to rising imports already 600 workers of textile industry have been suspended out of 18,900.
