Close scrutiny of a report published by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) reveals the pattern of trade between UK and UAE, with trade mostly revolving round the city of Dubai.
In the first quarter of 2006, only four and 12 percent of the trade was headed for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other places with 84 percent of share going to Dubai alone.
UK's total import from Dubai for the same period stood at Dh283 million with 65 percent belonging to Dubai. The share of Dubai in textile and textile articles export was 90 percent.
UK's imports from UAE declined by 7.1 percent during the first quarter of 2006, in contrast to the increase in export. The import of precious and semi-precious stones and metals as well as jewellery has gone down by 59 percent.
Imports of textile and textile products registered an impressive growth of 48 percent from Dh75 million to Dh111 million.
