Textile & apparel export make up 15% of total export value

From January to July 2006, China's total trade value of textile and apparel up by 21.94 percent than 2005 year-on-year, constituted 9.13 percent of total trade value.
At the same period, China's export of textile and apparel up by 24.49 percent than 2005, constituted 15 percent of total export value; meanwhile total import of textile and apparel up by 5.88 percent, constituted 2.4 percent of total import value.
Statistics from China Customs showed that among main export countries and regions of textile and apparel, US ranked top 1, and Japan and Hong Kong, China ranked top 2 and 3 respectively.
Top 3 countries and regions among main import areas were Taiwan, Japan and Korea. In the first half of 2006, import value of textile and apparel to the 3 areas up by 0.73 percent, and decreased by 4.5 percent and 3.7 percent respectively.
