Thailand reports moderate hike in footwear exports

Footwear exports turnover of Thailand grew mere 1.05 percent to 17.677 billion Baht (US $464.58 million).
Thai footwear exports to the EU increased 5.67 percent to $172.21 while export to the US declined 6.81 percent to $151.39 million.
Among all footwear categories, leather capped–shoes exports accounted for almost 64 percent of total footwear exports.
Leather capped-shoes exports gained 12.33 percent to $130.23 million from the EU market while in the US market it dropped 8.32 percent to $103.76 million.
There are good times ahead for Thai exporters as EU is to impose anti-dumping duties on shoe imports from China and Vietnam.
Apart from Thailand, Indonesia will be the next beneficiary of EU's proposed anti-dumping duty as international footwear giants are shifting their production facilities to Indonesia.
