Export of non-traditional items dips sharply
25 Aug '06
1 min read
Non-traditional exports of Zambia to Europe, especially countries like Switzerland, Britain and the Netherlands has gone down significantly.
The down trend is due to decline in the quantity of big export items including cotton lint and vegetables.
The drop in exports has seen a decline in revenues as well with Zambia's total earning from cotton lint reduced to US $521,000 as against $733,000.
Meanwhile, earning from vegetable exports has declined from $1.9 million to $1.65 million.
