Govt to form single export promotion unit

Government of Nepal has decided to amalgamate Carpet and Wool Development Board (CWDB), Trade Promotion Centre (TPC) and Export Promotion Board (EPB) to form a single export promotion unit.

CWDB is currently working for carpet export promotion and development, TPC keeps all the records of foreign trade and EPB works for the export promotion of all exportable commodities.

This export promotion unit will be effective from next week, informed Hridayesh Tripathi, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies.

This proposed promotional unit will function more efficiently and effectively than those three units, Tripathi stated at annual general meeting of Nepal Pashmina Industry Association (NPIA).

Government has extended the deadline for renewal of firms registration following requests received from different Chamber of Commerce, moreover Government also decided to allow re-register the firms which were failed to renew their registration, Tripathi stated.

Though Nepali Pashmina export has witnessed a slight improvement in the last two years, Shanker Prasad Pandey, President of NPIA requested Government for export subsidy and incentives.

In last 11 months Pashmina recorded exports worth Rs1.70 billion compared to Rs1.39 billion in fiscal 2004-05.
