Industry and Trade Ministry has tightened control by implementing law no 4703 which provides YTL4.392 penalty for each good.
Law no 4703 makes it obligatory for goods being traded in Turkey to use Turkish labels and manuals. The law which also defines the presentation, appropriateness assessment, market supervision and control of goods will invite penalty of YTL4.392 for each good, not having Turkish label.
Officials from Ministry of Industry and Trade informed that textile label is a technical label which shows whether the item is of cotton or wool and whether it is resistible to ironing. This is the reason why such information is considered to be necessary by the Turkish Technical committee.
