Custom Controller of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states has informed that illegal goods worth N14 million have been seized by officials in September, 2006.
He revealed that 36 bales and a bag of separate textile materials, 36 pieces of Persian rugs and two bags of second-hand clothing had been seized from Sokoto. Another lot was seized that had 84 bales sorted imported textile materials valued at N7, 849, 653.
Controller further informed that seven bales of textile and 70 pieces of Chinese textile materials were seized from Kadiri worth N837, 087.30. In another catch, authorities caught a bus having one big bale, 10 small bales and 165 imported textile materials.
