During January-July 2006 period, Vietnam's textile and apparel exports turnover to the EU surged 55 percent as compared to the same period last year to US $690 million.
Most categories witnessed sharp growth in terms of value and volume.
The highest growth rate was recorded in the sales of jackets at $131 million, up 41 percent from same period 2005, followed by category of trousers that generated $116 million at 137 percent; T shirt for $67 million with the rise of 23 percent.
However, several categories that suffered loss included jumpers at a fall of 19 percent to $19 million, fur towel and table cover.
Out of EU block, during the period, Germany stood at top place of countries importing the textile and garment goods from Vietnam.
The exports turnover to this country reached $179 million, registered rise of 50 percent from a year earlier, with major goods of Jacket (2.7 million units, worth $45 million).
