Textile exports to breakthrough $120 bn in 2006

Recently Ministry of Commerce held a symposium with domestic textile enterprises in export business. A senior official from China textile import and export chamber of commerce revealed that China's textiles export set to break US $120 billion this year.

The first agreement bid of 2007 export quotas to US and EU has been carried out smoothly.

According to the official, during the first 8 months this year, China's textile and apparel export reached $103.3 billion in total, rising 22.2 percent comparing to the corresponding period of prior year, of which export accounted for $91.36 billion, up 24.7 percent, import composed $11.94 billion, 6.1 percent over that of last year.

Vice Chairman of the Chamber Jiangzhe said, in view of the current situation, China's textiles export for the whole year set to outpace $120 billion in 2006, larger than 2005.
